Dress Code Policy

For in-person assignments, unless otherwise specifically indicated in the Special Instructions section of the Interpreting Assignment Confirmation form, interpreters are required to adhere to business professional dress code. Interpreters are required to wear closed toe shoes appropriate with dress code to all assignments. It is highly recommended to carry a set of extra business attire in your vehicle in case you must report to an assignment at a short notice.

For virtual and remote assignments conducted over conferencing platforms, you may be required to appear on video as one of the meeting participants. Please ensure you are prepared by testing your audio equipment in advance, using a functioning headset, preferably USB-wired, and presenting yourself professionally on an HD camera.

What Not To Wear:

To maintain a professional and safe environment, please avoid wearing the following items while at work:

  • Jeans: Any style or color of denim is not permitted.
  • T-shirts: Casual or graphic t-shirts are not appropriate.
  • Athletic Wear: Includes sweatpants, leggings, gym shorts, and other activewear items.
  • Hanging Jewelry: Avoid dangling earrings, necklaces, or any jewelry that may pose a safety hazard or appear unprofessional.

Thank you for adhering to these guidelines to help ensure a professional and secure workplace atmosphere.

Identification/Badges

For in-person assignments, you must wear a MasterWord issued interpreter ID badge. Additionally, please carry a copy of a state issued photo ID or a driver license with you to all assignments in case you are required to present it at a client facility for identification and/or security purposes.

Lost Interpreter ID Badge:

If your badge has been lost you should alert MasterWord immediately and request a replacement. A temporary badge will be issued within 24 hours. A badge replacement fee of $5 may apply.

Failure to Adhere to Dress Code and Identification Requirements

Failure to present the proper identification and/or wear appropriate attire, etc. may result in your inability to enter the client’s facility or provide services. In such cases, the assignment is considered non-compensable, including any pre-established minimums as outlined in the scope of work or Interpreting Assignment Confirmation.
